The Catalunya Ballet Foundation was created on April 29, 2016, with the purpose of serving the public and Catalan institutions as a tool for disseminating dance in its broadest sense, with ballet being an integral part and basis for training future Catalan dancers. With a new training system, the goal is to help dancers achieve their highest goals through professional dance courses combined with compulsory education.
At the same time, we offer young dancers the chance to reach their dream of joining a local professional ballet company and allow our esteemed audiences the opportunity to enjoy one of the most valuable artistic performing arts combined with the cultural heritage of Catalunya.
With this in mind, our foundation is currently working on two ambitious projects: a ballet academy that is focused on teaching dance for all levels of students, focused on talent from our country with the finality of offering a worldclass educational platform and secondly, an internationally renowned ballet company based in Catalunya with the main objective of providing a professional dance company for the students of our academy and attracting some of the greatest talented dancers from around the world.
This project would not have been possible without the involvement and support of three major institutions:
GENERALITAT DE CATALUNYA
The recognition and involvement by the Catalan Government provides the confidence to feel part of giving Catalunya a new national arts entity, reborn in our culture as a new symbol of its identity. It also gives Catalan dance professionals a qualified reference worth of the country of which they belong, reflecting the cohesion of a very appreciated sector that until now has lacked support and direction
TERRASSA CITY HALL
Terrassa always supports projects that they consider key to the city and country, therefore, they have decided to endorse and participate in our ambitious task. They have given a 3,600m2 space that is designed to support talent and invest in our youth with the conviction that their contribution as the Catalan headquarters for dance will lead to the training and stage production of classical dance that has been desired in this country for many, many years.
CENTRE CULTURAL DE TERRASSA
Identified today as the theatre that offers the widest programming dedicated to dance in Catalunya, will become the headquarters for the Catalunya National Ballet. Opened in 1980, the “Centre Cultural de Terrassa” is a facility that offers extensive cultural activities aimed at all audiences. Its continued growth has led the theatre to become the resident home to the first classical ballet company that is about to be inaugurated in Catalunya.
